License & Open Source

Trading Journal AI is released under the MIT License and developed in the open on GitHub.

What that means for you

In plain terms, the MIT License lets you:

  • Use it for anything, including commercially, at no cost.
  • Modify it to fit how you trade and review.
  • Share your version, as long as you keep the original copyright and license notice.

It's provided as-is, without warranty. You run it yourself, so you're responsible for your own data and backups.

Why open source

A trading journal holds some of your most sensitive records — account history, positions, timestamps. Being open source means you (or anyone you trust) can read exactly what the app does with that data. There's no hidden telemetry to take on faith, and the project can't disappear behind a paywall or a shut-down server.

Use & responsibility

This is a journaling and review tool — not financial advice, trade recommendations, risk or tax advice, or brokerage software. It's provided as-is; verify your own data, protect your own broker exports, and use it at your own risk.

Contributing

Issues and pull requests are welcome. If you build something useful on top of it, or fix a rough edge, the repository is the place to share it.
